Galia Carranco Herrera, Physiotherapist

galia-avatarGalia Carranco Herrera completed her Master’s in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa after graduating from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Through her work in private orthopedic clinics, Galia has gained experience in soft tissue release, joint mobilization, acupuncture and functional dry needling. She went on to pursue training in pelvic health physiotherapy and treats incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain in both males and females.

Galia loves to work one-on-one with her clients. She has a keen ability to understand their individual needs and goals and to implement the appropriate care. She relies on evidence-based practices and integrates exercise and functional movement strategies as her main treatment approach. Her background in Kinesiology and her extensive experience as a competitive athlete and sprint canoeing and kayaking coach, make her very skilled at prescribing progressive and individualized exercises and motivating her clients. Her passion is to educate her clients and provide  them with the skills they need to manage and recover from their condition.

In her free time, Galia continues to paddle in dragon boats, outrigger canoes, and stand-up paddle boards. She also loves to hike, run, practice yoga and go camping.

One of her goals and passions is to continue to travel the world which she hopes she can get back to sometime soon!
