Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals so you do not require a doctor’s referral to see one. Your health insurance provider may require a doctor’s referral for reimbursement of physiotherapy services.

What does the internal pelvic floor exam include?

The internal pelvic exam includes a vaginal exam and an anorectal exam. This portion of the assessment provides information about the function of the pelvic floor muscles and will help to guide the treatment.

Can I bring my baby to the appointment?

Yes!  Babies are most welcome.

Should I come if I have my period at the time of my appointment?

Yes.  We can opt to do manual therapy, exercise and education and defer any internal pelvic floor techniques to the next visit.
